Owl’s Head Alloys is seeking dedicated Production Operators who prefer to work hands-on – and with no prior experience needed. We are 100% employee-owned, meaning we offer competitive pay, on-the-job training, full benefits and company stock.
You’ll be able to work 4 days on, 4 days off in 12-hour shifts, allowing you time for a second job or just to relax.
Duties & Responsibilities
-
Perform daily safety checks at the beginning of each shift.
-
Prepare materials for the rotary melting furnaces.
-
Skim and sample aluminum poured out of the rotary and holding furnaces.
-
Remove, label and weigh the aluminum poured out of the rotary furnace.
-
Clean and coat launders as needed between each furnace pour.
-
Remove, label, stack, band and weigh the aluminum cast out of the holding furnace.
-
Load and unload trucks.
-
Move and stack materials.
-
Keep production lines supplied with empty containers and packaging materials.
-
Spot tractor trailers.
-
Perform general housekeeping duties in the warehouse or production area and other duties as assigned.

Receive/process shipments.
-
Perform proper forklift inspections and follow forklift operating guidelines and procedures.
Must become certified to operate a forklift and loader. On-site certification training is provided.
Manufacturing and Forklift experience preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

Follow all safety rules and procedures and wears all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Follow all environmental policies and procedures including reporting incidents/nonconformities when they occur.

Operate all equipment safely and efficiently according to all plant policies and procedures.

Report any unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards, report damaged equipment and/or spills and environmental hazards..

Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all company safety procedures, rules, and regulations.

Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with co-workers and managers.
-
Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices, to load, unload, transport, or stack material.
-
Safely move material around the plant or facility.
-
Charge material into furnaces.
-
Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all plant policies and procedures.

Assist with production and ensure that production goals are met.

Contribute to process improvement initiatives and implements best practices.

Operate the furnace in accordance with EPA regulations including monitoring of operating rate, lime injection rates, baghouse inlet temperatures, and flux injection rates.

Drain, pour, or remove molten metal from furnaces, and place it into molds.

Observe and direct production workers to ensure that the production needs are met.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
-
Record production data as well as maintain the production logs.
-
Weigh materials to be charged into furnaces using the scales.
-
Operate and adjust the controls to maintain the required temperatures and pour or discharge molten metals from the furnace(s).

Observe and ensure the sample and sow quality meets company’s standards.
-
Work as part of the team to achieve company goals.
-
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and implements best practices.

Perform all other related work as assigned.
